As an Austrian, you don’t need a passport for Greece, the ID is enough.

Greece is a Contracting Party to the European Convention on the Control of Passenger Transport between the member states of the Council of Europe of 13.12.1957. Travel documents other than the provisional ID may have expired for a maximum of one year.

The states and airlines may have different rules.

Ryanair says what you need for Greece

  • identity card (valid or expired),
  • Greek police card [Greek Police ID card]
  • valid passport
  • valid driving permit with light image
  • other official photo ID (the photo has to bear the official stamp at least in part)
