Too late to dance competitively at 16?

Hey,

I am 16 years old and plan to start ballroom dancing or standard/Latin and would also like to dance in competitions.

I used to be in a gymnastics club and a cheerleading club until I was about 13, and I was/am very flexible.

Could I still make it to competitions, etc.? And does anyone know of any good schools in the area around Mönchengladbach or Cologne?

Thank you for answers 🙂

I started with 18 standard/latin. I don’t see myself on a tournament yet, but it’s never too late. I have also made very great progress and come in so slowly but surely. Then just perfect and let’s go!

It is not about age, it is much more about pleasure, enthusiasm and experience. And experience can only be gathered when you started – it comes from alone. You have to bring pleasure and enthusiasm, which makes learning much easier.

In the beginning it will be very difficult. I came from a dance school to a club and I thought I never had danced before because the technique is quite demanding. That’s quite normal, you might seem stupid, but how else do you want to learn? Let it go, learn the steps first, and if you think you have something on it, then it’s up to the next things.

I’m lucky that my dance partner is a profit dancer – in other words, she knows how it must be right. I can rely on 100000%, which means that as Paaar we just need to focus on me and that I realize when something is wrong. She can help me. It was sometimes exhausting because I, I think, sometimes have quite disappointed them, but we believe that one day we can get it up. ^^

Even if your partner starts from the start, you get to know you from the beginning, you get to know your first steps, grow together from the beginning. It’s great. And if you don’t have a partner at first, you’ll learn only (or look for someone first).

It is not wrong to start the club. In a dance school it is often only about having fun dancing and getting to know the dancing. It’s not about technology, it’s about the steps. It makes sense to sniff in before to gain first experiences. But if you go to the competitions, the club is more sensible. You can also ask the best way for you. ^^

Sometime, after a lot of trouble. This will be the same for you.

Absolutely. I started with 15 and in my club there are people from all ages who all go to tournaments. In principle, you can play tournaments up to 65.

depends on what a level or whether hobby or professional

Professional at World Championship level will be difficult if you have never done before. Can work if you have your corresponding trainer and dance partner. Only the better you are the more difficult it is to find an equivalent dance partner. Therefore, in higher tournament sports many couples are international.

Yes, it depends on your desire, enthusiasm and ambition. I think you might be able to do it sometime if you stay on it.

I don’t know the schools that way, sorry

If you want to become a world champion, it will be difficult.

Otherwise, it’s not a problem.

Here are a few groups where you can ask.

The Bremers around Albanese are world champions or were it at least several times.
