Driving is allowed from 14. But under 14, you are not criminally responsible.

The problem is the lack of control during registration. To keep the threshold low, there are certainly no registrations, or you enter your birthday and age yourself.

Probably nothing will happen, except a conversation with the police and possibly his parents. AND he'll have to get off his scooter.

You're probably one of those people who stands behind the curtains and writes down every little thing and wants to report it, right?

How do you know the boy is really 11 or 12? I know 14-year-olds who look 10. Puberty hasn't hit yet.

A bicycle can even travel faster than 20 km/h.

It's none of your business as long as the boy drives properly.

"or nothing happens because it's not possible."

What's so bad about that?

So what? That can happen to anyone.

And it's "the accident," not "the accident."

Well, it's illegal. You might as well ask what's so bad about him driving a car.

Bleib einfach auf dem Teppich. Jedes Kind auf einem Fahrrad fährt schneller als 20km/h

It's kind of funny that the German state doesn't trust its children and young people.

E-scooters only from 14
Moped only 16
B17 only with accompanying person

But alcohol from 16 or even 14 if parents allow it.

I'm almost surprised that you aren't fully legally competent and of legal age until you're 25 😉

Me neither 🙂

You won't believe the differences between mopeds in Germany and Austria, or you might be surprised to learn that S-Pedelecs are treated like mopeds. As similar as the two countries are, they can be just as different 😀

Yeah, not bad, the rules are better than ours, but luckily I don't have to worry about age restrictions anymore ^^

You have to get the AM license for that anyway. Here in Austria, you can start training at 14 years and 10 months, and you get the license at 15.

BF17 is called L17 here, and once you pass the test, you're allowed to drive alone. Even in Germany, because there's an agreement.

And back to the e-scooters. Here, 12-year-olds are allowed to ride them, and children can even get a bicycle permit at 9 or 10 years old, and I can even go one step further. The children can be even younger, as long as they're accompanied by an adult who's at least 16 years old. 😉

For Germany I don't think the age limit is bad at all, but I'm surprised that you can ride a scooter at 15/16.
