Minijob and BAföG during school education?
Hello everyone, I have a few questions about the situation mentioned in the title.
I'm currently living with my parents and pursuing a vocational training program in the social sector. Now I want to apply for student loans (BAföG). My application will be processed soon, and everything has been taken care of.
But what happens if I want to do a mini-job while I'm still working? I read something online about allowances, and that if I earn too much overall, it will be deducted from my student loan benefits.
But now I asked my parents how it works and they said that if I earn too much I have to pay rent and apply for housing benefit somehow because I'm already 18.
Are there other things I need to pay attention to, know, or do before I decide to start a mini-job during my school education and while receiving student loans?

You would have to report the job to the Bafög office and then prove your income.
Up to a month slightly over 520 euros gross equal to net remained without taking into account the amount of a possible bafög – claim, or even if you would not earn more than 12 x around the 520 euros gross in the grant period of usually 12 months.
It would, of course, be important to see whether it involves any social benefit, such as housing benefit from the Housing Agency or civil money from the Jobcenter.
In this case, your bafög – and additional earning income would be counted to the benefit accordingly.
You couldn’t get a living alone if you were with your parents.
Even if you weren’t living with your parents anymore and would have your own accommodation, you would be excluded from living money because of your bafög, even if you were to reach the other conditions like a minimum eligible income.
In the case of civil money, earning income under 25 years of age remained net for pupils, trainees or students up to the minimum job limit of currently 538 Euro gross without any calculation of the child’s needs.
If the gross income exceeds the minimum job limit, further allowances for labour income would come to paragraph 11 b SGB – ll.

And in fact, I misunderstood this, my parents take housing and not I should ask for something.

You will, of course, get what you are entitled to on request and consent, only by the bafög – and additional earning income will at least reduce the possible entitlement to housing money.
Your parents must report the change in the financial situation unrequired to the Housing Board and provide proof.
Then you have to settle with your parents and, depending on what is no longer paid to your parents at least partially or not, you have to settle with your parents as explained.
