My rabbits don't want to drink from the bowl, what should I do?

Good day.

My two rabbits, Schoki and Brownie, don't want to drink from their bowls. The saleswoman told me that bottles are much better than bowls, so I've been feeding my rabbits from bottles since the beginning (I bought them almost a year ago). A few days ago, I found out that drinking from bottles isn't good for rabbits at all. I was very upset about this, of course, and put water in their bowls, but they immediately knocked it over after sniffing at them. Lately, they've also been knocking over their food bowls, and I always find their bowls somewhere under the hay.

Could someone please tell me what I should do? That would be really helpful.

Best regards, belle.

Buy harder cups and place them in such a way that they cannot be thrown around. They don’t need a bowl for fresh food. You can just put it in the cradle.

I don’t drink at all! But you have fresh food in the enclosure around the clock, so I don’t worry about it. Nevertheless, there are 2 cups with water inside and on the edge where they don’t run long

Mine is also made of ceramics and my 3 chaots (as well as the 7 guinea pigs) have not been thrown around in 4 years, but as I said it is also on the edge and not where they are running long

Could really be a lack of space depending on how big the current enclosure is. At the new building you will pay the best attention to that you have at least 6sqm floor area on one level. It shouldn’t be smaller for the two.

Or they’re bored, and they’re throwing him around. But you can also help

Hello, I think it’s great that you changed it! I have rabbits myself and often have the problem that the cups are thrown out of the bottle they have been used to drinking it out so it is probably now a change for the two. You could put several cups and eventually they will be thirsty and drink. The cups are hard when they are on ceramics and good when they are big so maybe you can use a large bowl of ceramics for the first time. These are really good .da you can always improve your attitude .Evtl you can find a video on YouTube

lg and a nice evening 👋Achso and if spelling errors are not noticeable here 💁🏽 ♀️☺️

in no case would I advise you to use the bottle again, but I think they need to get used to it for a little bit. I think it takes a week at most but can take longer. If that doesn’t work, try to take it from a variety of cups which are higher or which are more deeper. You can also put some of the favorite places as they spend most of the time Lg and much patience

Hello 🙋🏽

Great thing you’ve been better informed now. 😊

I’d just buy heavy cups. That’s what we did. However, we have screwed around the cups wooden strips so that the animals can no longer move them.

If there’s water they’d drink it if they smelled. They don’t evaporate voluntarily. But you should take off the potions.

Most of the water is absorbed by food. About fresh natural.

Dear Greetings I hope I could help you

I can only guess now that I think your rabbits are so used to the bottle they are now hard to do with the changeover. It seems that this change seems to upset them.

I’d hang the bottle back in.

It’s been a while since I had rabbits, but I know only the bottles for the water. I would never have come up with the idea of putting a bowl in – as you notice, I’m gonna be shot right away. Always worked with the bottle without any problems. What is so dramatic about the bottle for the animal?

How much water comes out depends on the model in my experience – I doubt that Pot more to drink… And I wouldn’t overestimate the attitude – the few seconds a day, I doubt that it hurts – you can also vary the height.

Yeah, that’s right. They are also a germ bomb. Give your rabbit time to get used to the bowl.

Please don’t suggest things that are harmful.

I didn’t think of anything, but only set out my view of things.

The fact is that the spinal column is damaged by the posture. In addition, a rabbit – whatever model – does not get enough water through droplets.

Fact? You haven’t shown anything, so it’s just assertions first. I can at least say that in my childhood we had several rabbits that remained healthy despite bottle to high age.

Clean the topic: how do you want to clean the tube and the inner corners of the bottle? A dishwasher might still get it – but how many people really do that?

Are you really asking?! Ever heard of a bottle brush? Those who do not use the cups are also not adequately clean, then these are exactly such germ spins. 🙄

In a dog, no one would come to the idea to add such a bottle. But in rabbits it’s all right…?

Are there two completely different animals with different postures?! Do not compare apples with pears.

They can do that by themselves. This is a natural instinct. You just have to find and realize that there is water inside.

Well, if it becomes a germ bomb, it depends on whether or not it is cleaned…

Go with the rabbits to the vet who knows more than we do.
