There are different good rim brakes and there are different good mechanical disc brakes.

Good rim brakes can delay under good conditions similarly well as good mechanical disc brakes and in any case better than the last billo disc brake on the commercial bike.

Intermediate disc brakes are superior to any favorable rim brake.

In both types of mechanical brakes, the use of good, pressure-resistant outer casings makes a noticeable difference.

Rim brakes come to their limits in wet, dirt and snow noticeably sooner, but are easier to handle daily.

Disc brakes are largely unimpeded by wet, dirt and snow, a small inattention with the chain spray and the brake no longer brakes at all.

In front of the wet, the disc brake is more effective because the brake rubbers of the rim brake have to displace a lot of water and water repeatedly passes between the rim and the rubber.

The case is different in the case of the disc brake: firstly, less water reaches the brake discs because they are farther away from the ground and secondly the brake pads are so ground that they can displace the water and almost nothing comes in between. The holes in the brake disc help to displace water that has come in between. As a result, the “Grip” is much stronger and is also preserved in wet conditions.

However, the holes are mainly for better heat dissipation.

The braking force is in no way a rim brake.

It seems that the rims are already completely ground. This also reduces the braking force. It doesn’t happen in the disc brake.

Good rim brakes are just as good.
