Mauritius in August?

Hello everyone!

We would really like to fly to Mauritius in August this year, but I can't find many reviews of Mauritius during this travel period.

For this reason, I would like to ask again whether anyone has already had experience in Mauritius in August and perhaps has any tips for excursions etc.

I've read that the south and east sides should be avoided in August due to strong winds, but that the north and especially the west sides are good to visit even in the "winter" of Mauritius.

Does anyone have any experiences or tips for August in Mauritius? (Weather, excursions, hotels, etc.)

Is it worth booking all-inclusive, or would you prefer half board or breakfast? Should I stay in a hotel, or is AirBnB worth it?

Thank you in advance and best regards

Hello! Were you in Mauritius last year in August? We are currently asking the same questions or which coast is the most ideal. Maybe you can share your experiences :-)?

I have read that in August the south and east sides are to be avoided due to strong winds, but the north and especially the west sides are also well to be visited in Mauritius.

You have the strong winds there all year round. I'd rather choose the west of the island. August is basically quite pleasant.

Is it worth booking AL or just HP or breakfast?

That depends on your personal plans. If this is a beach holiday at the hotel, AI makes sense. If you want to make a hiking holiday, I would at best book with breakfast.

At dinner, it's a matter of taste. Most hotels offer international cuisine. The question arises whether you want spaghetti Bolognese for dinner or not the Creole (street) cuisine outside the hotel complex.

Should you go to a hotel or should you like AirBnB?

So a matter of taste. When we were in Mauritius and La Réunion, we did both. I find the private accommodations better to get to know the country and people. A rental car to explore the island.

I wouldn't take half board either. If you don't like the food? The island has many great restaurants. If you find nothing, you can still eat separately at the hotel.

I'd just take half board if the hotel is "off the shot".
