33 1/3 % are 1/3 and 1/3 of 24 (as many boxes are) are 8 boxes. So you have to “mark” 8 boxes.

These are 24 boxes. You must mark 24*(33+1/3)/100=(792+8)/100=800/100=8 boxes.

Or simpler: 33 1/3% means 1/3, 1/3 of 24 is 8

Or: 33+1/3=(33*3+1)/3=100/3, therefore 24*100/3 /100=24/3=8
