Math fraction with root, can't get any further?

Hey, I'm stuck on a problem and I'm hoping someone can help me. It's probably really easy, but I still don't understand how the fraction with the square root of 8 becomes 1 + square root of 0.5?! Thanks for any help.

Hello,

You can split the break to 4/4+Wurzel (8)/4,
which leads to 1+Wurzel (8)/4.

You can square the denominator and take the root.

From the root (8)/4 is root (8/16)= root (1/2)= root (0.5).

Best regards,

Willy

First, pull the break apart and shorten the first partial break with four. Then use the root(8) = root(2*4) = root(2)* root(4) = 2* root(2). Now with two.
