8 people need a total of 8 * 60 = 480 cm

The length of the circumference of a semicircle is equal to half the circumference of the associated full circle, since the circumference of a circle is 2*pi*r.

Thus the length of the circumference of the semicircle is 2 pi * (d/2) so pi * d

Approved:

pi * d = 480

d = 480/pi = 152,91cm

To obtain the diameter in millimetres, multiplicate with 10:

d = 1529,1 mm

The diameter of the semicircle must be about 1529,1 mm to provide space for 8 people. Each person then has 60 cm of space.
