Two six-legged cats and 3 single-legged birds – is quite simple!

5 chickens and a cat that just eaten a chicken head = 14 legs, 5 heads.

If you can’t calculate it, it’s a trick task: write down and count all combinations.

k + v = 5 => k = 5 = v

4k + 2v = 14

4(5 – v) + 2v = 14

-2v = -6

v = 3

k = 5 – 3 = 2

She has 3 birds and 2 cats.

Yes.

  1. How many heads does a cat have?
  2. How many heads does a bird have?
  3. How many legs does a bird have?
  4. How many legs does a cat have?

You already have a lot of points of reference. The rest is pure mathematics.
