Manga/Anime which do you like better?

Good evening,

I've been working on my own project for some time now, and it will take a lot of time. Even though I've already achieved quite a bit, I'm still thinking and refining it. To put it briefly: the focus is on action.

To my question:

Which do you prefer? Should this genre throw you right into the story, building tension from the start and revealing little about the protagonist at first? Or is it better if the story starts a bit slower, allowing you to get to know the characters before the actual plot picks up speed?

Of course, this is all a matter of taste. But I'd love to hear your opinion :)!
