Maintain motivation to learn languages?
I once self-taught myself an East Asian language for fun and interest, but then, due to life's stress, I haven't really done anything in it for about a year, and I'm incredibly demotivated because I've forgotten so much. I don't really have an objective reason to learn the language. I probably won't emigrate there, nor will I be able to afford much vacation time there, nor will I need it for my job.
Should I even try to catch up? It's a kind of double sunk cost fallacy: On the one hand, I've already invested so much time, but on the other, I've lost so much that I don't know whether it would be wise or not to simply forget the language completely or laboriously relearn it.
What motivates you to learn languages?

I try to learn languages by reading and watching series or movies. Once I arrive at a feasible language level, I try to find a two online friends who speak this language. So far, it’s been fine.
Yes, I keep looking at what is in the target language and look forward to seeing things more often when I have minimized the tab and don’t see the subtitles.
I need to expand my text-read capability even more, as I write mainly on the PC and thus do not get the characters as well in the head as if I would write them.
You’re going a little wrong. You don’t look in the target language and look forward to seeing something. And you don’t use subtitles in a language you can. You learn languages by looking in the target language and using subtitles in the target language to follow everything you don’t understand.
This is definitely understandable, it helped me make notes on e.g. series or to write a short summary of the last episode the next day. Sounds a little stupid at first, but helps.
The page sounds more suboptimal because it takes you away from learning. Something like Romaji or Furigana should not be explicitly sought and rather avoided. Romaji anyway. They won’t do anything to learn Japanese. Obscure the language, make lookups harder and when learning with Romaji the numerous homonyms nerve you like nothing else. If Furigana is just there, okay. But explicitly looking for them, I wouldn’t.
The reason: if you are learning with Romaji now, you do not learn to read the Hiragana and Kanji. And then you get used to it. Makes learning harder than it must be. And if you want to learn Japanese, you want to read Kanji. Accordingly, it is better to always see the texts with them. The lookups go quickly with the right setup.
For this procedure, I would recommend Migaku: https://kawaraban.de/migaku/ Very practical, because you can also directly create vocabulary cards with the series, grab the sample set, image and sound from the series. Supports currently Netflix, Disney+, Youtube and Rakuten Viki.

With the latter you can even download your own subtitles, which can help with CR. However, it is more complicated to set up with the lookups and map creation because you need to install and use Yomitan and Anki.
With examples, I meant explicit series on Netflix that don’t have it. But if you use CR, it’s done.
Yes, I’m unfortunately primarily quf CR, but maybe I’ll try out the promotional Netflix more often in the future.
The page that I used was called Animelon and is perfect because depending on the learning status of Romanji, about hiragana/katakana, Kanji with hiras can even step over to the normal text at the same time. You could click and translate individual words in the sub.
Or what do you mean by concrete examples?
I know it’s a problem with Crunchyroll. On Netflix, on the other hand, I was looking for the other day, and I really did not find anything that had no Japanese subtitles. It looked different about a year ago. Disney+ always seems to have all the subtitles for everyone. I haven’t seen Amazon Prime so closely.

Unfortunately, this is not always the case that the Japanese subtitles are usually not so easy available in Germany. So Jp dub with jp subs doesn’t get so easy in Germany. Mostly either with English, German or no subs:/
Yes Definitely, I had so much side, so you could watch anime with subtitles and still had a encyclopedia function and vocabulary list function installed. But that really almost looked at work when you looked in Japanese with Japanese subs and really wanted to work through the episode.
For me the reason / that know why. Always wanted to live in Spain, so I taught myself Spanish.

I was even on Tandem for some time, a similar app, but I think the problem was that the Japanese had an oversupply of German candidates:D
