MacBook for beginner music production?

Hello everyone,

I have been involved with music for over 10 years.

They also have their own band.

I decided to buy a MacBook Pro 16'' notebook with 1 TB SSD, M4 Pro processor and 24 GB RAM and use it to produce the music myself.
And of course the Logic.

I don't know much about Macs before I buy it, so I wanted to hear some opinions.

Is it worth buying the new one with the M4 processor or is one with the M2 or M3 sufficient?

I've heard a few times in support that the M2 is even faster when it comes to music production.

But I'm unsure.

Thank you for your opinions

Hello,

M4 Pro vs. M2/M3

A MacBook is enough for music productionM2 ProorM3 Properfect. Both chips offer enough performance for Logic Pro, even for larger projects with many traces and plugins. TheM4 Prois more future-proof, but the difference will probably be low for you in practice.

Memory

  • 24 GB RAM: Super choice, especially for memory-intensive libraries and plugins.
  • 1 TB SSD: Perfect as projects and samples need plenty of space.

Conclusion

A M2 or M3 Pro MacBook is completely sufficient. The saved money you could in a goodAudio interface(e.g. Focusrite Scarlett) or other music hardware invest.

Hope that helps you! 😊
