MacBook 2012 in 2023?

Hello,

I wanted to buy a MacBook, but since the brand new ones are too expensive for me, I looked into how much the older ones cost – around €250. Apple doesn't really support models below 2018, and I need mine for Zoom meetings, Word, Excel, etc. My question is, will apps like Word be updated by then? My Sony laptop is all from 2007 (Word, Excel), and I can't get to grips with it at all. So, are the apps more recent? Does the new one actually run quickly, or is it like cell phones where they freeze at a certain point and everything just goes to pieces? Does anyone know of any alternatives for things like this? It doesn't have to be a MacBook, just something cheap. Hope you know what I mean! I'd love to hear your opinion.
