Did you graduate from MAB without a high school diploma and want to study something else now?

Hello everyone,

I have a question. I'm interested in studying, and the counseling center at my distance learning university advised me to go straight into the MBA program because of my previous education (professional qualification and diploma in healthcare).

Another question now arises for me: If I complete the MBA based on my previous education (without a high school diploma), am I then entitled to continue my studies at any other university/university of applied sciences, etc., or to pursue another course of study afterwards?

Your terms are about Austria or Switzerland, and I’m going from the legal situation in Austria.

If I complete the MBA on the basis of my pre-education (without Matura), then I am entitled to study further at all other universities/ colleges, etc., or then to do another study?

All foreseeable: no. This is the special case of a further education master set up as a course, which is not comparable to a regular master’s degree. In Austria, these have actually been abolished, at least in the previous form – which Fernuni is about? Is it even a university?

Although colleges of applied sciences are somewhat more flexible than universities, there is no guarantee.

Ui. These are a few warning signals now.

(1) AQA (not “AQAS”) does not accredit foreign educational providers; but they have to Report, if they distribute financial statements in Austria. An essential difference. Who gives the degree here? The local “Fernuni” or the foreign provider? I suspect the latter, because this is the usual way of circumventing if one does not create the hurdles for a real private university and only works as a local distribution and/or support point.

2) Absolutely no one can guarantee that your British(?) Completion of a university or FH is considered sufficient for the transcription. They don’t have to. Only because the state of origin (in this case, it is stupidly not even an EU state) classifies the institution as recognised, you cannot derive any rights from it.

You can also study in Austria without Matura, but you need a study permission examination

Yes. However, this is professional and only intended for basic studies.

The “Further Education Masters” in the form of university or FH courses are or were a special case. Even today, according to the UG reform of 2021, these are considered “extraordinary” studies and are not directly comparable with regular degrees.
