M.2 SSD not recognized after reboot?
Good morning,
I installed an M.2 SSD in my new computer. It worked fine for about a day and a half. But then I had to restart the PC for an installation, and then it only booted into the BIOS and no longer into Windows. Then, when I tried to reinstall Windows, I realized that the SSD was no longer recognized by the BIOS at all.
Now, of course, I want the SSD to work again so I can continue working. I've already tried a lot of things (reinstalling and removing the SSD, etc.)
Does anyone have a suggested solution? Thanks in advance.
Yeah, that’s what happened to me, but it came back later, and I don’t know why that happened.
You can try to turn off the PC completely and then reset the UEFI or start the PC without SSD and afterwards.
How did I put the UEFI back but I will try it

Plug your PC completely, press the Power button to consume the last power, then beside the Bios Battery two pins that you can simply short-circuit with nem screwdriver, that is, you should simply bring the two pins into contact with the screwdriver for 5 seconds to make sure and that should reset the Uefi.
Or you remove the battery for a few minutes and re-enter it, that also resets the UEFI.
Once started with and without has unfortunately not helped the SSD he apparently still does not recognize because otherwise Windows would start
If you have a Windows bootstick you can open with Shift + F10 CMD and enter “diskpart” and with the “list disk” command you can see if your SSD is detected.
You also need to make sure that the SSD is not detected in the UEFI, just because Windows does not start it does not mean that the SSD is not recognized, after a failed update, for example, the boot partition or the files in it can be faulty which leads to a non-start
I guess that’s kind of completely random. Nen’s colleague is coming by soon looking at this can tell him otherwise he should test it on his PC because that would then show if it was broken or not.
Yes I’ll look
But first you have to make sure oh the SSD is really broken, maybe the motherboard is the problem, otherwise you buy a new SSD for free
You can also look at google “ssd not recognized after restart” many people have the same problem.
Ne’s my only storage medium. Like I said, I don’t know what to try, maybe buy a new
Did you put on other storage media? If so try to put everyone out and only with the M.2
But kp like the one to have broken. I installed a game and then I would have to make the breasts, and then I land in the BIOS… I just pulled the SSD in six times and pulled out, but nothing helped
Yeah, but I’m going to the BIOS and I can really hire Ned. The only thing I had seen yet was km easy fashion that is in the AHCI fashion but nothing will recognize neither SATA nor M.2
Of course, that the SSD is actually broken or that is not sitting properly inside, but I also have more solution suggestions, you can test the ssd in nem other PC as the last option but otherwise kp
Couldn’t it be that the SSD just actually broke through something
Google simple: motherboard brand e.g. Msi Boot menu key, then spamme the button simply during the start, with me it is e.g. f11 or remove
With a data carrier with 29Gb size is displayed otherwise nothing
Sorry for the maybe stupid questions but was never in the BIOS before and since that is my first real desktop PC. How can I go to the UEFI and see if it is recognized? However, I had already told you that when trying to reinstall Windows, SSD will not be recognized. Is that no matter?
Yes the larger round battery I had also taken out but only tried for a few seconds
Mainboard type, SSD type?
you may have. first time working with a live system that was only in the RAM?
motherboard is the MSI B550M per VDH and the SSD is a WD Blue 580 1Tb
