Pneumonia during pregnancy?
Dear community..
After about 5 weeks of being told that my cough was not serious, my family doctor looked at me today with some concern and said to me:
"We need to start antibiotics right now. You have acute pneumonia."
She also told me that if the antibiotic didn't work within 2-3 days, I should go to the hospital (gynecology department) – and do so IMMEDIATELY.
I've known my family doctor for a while, but she's never spoken to me as intensely as she did today, and if I'm honest, she scared me quite a bit.
Now my question(s):
- I'm almost 25 weeks pregnant; is the risk of something happening to my baby due to the pneumonia very high?
- Can the antibiotic I am receiving (Amoxicillin Micro Labs 1000) affect the pregnancy?
- Would it be advisable if I just went to the gynecologist's office – just to be on the safe side?
I'm a little confused right now…
Take the antibiotic. No, it won’t hurt the baby
And no, pneumonia does not harm the baby either. But it would not be uncommon if you still get high fever for inflammation and that should be avoided.
Okay, that calms me down. Thank you.
Antibiotics does not harm the baby.
The baby would already be able to survive in the worst case.
Don’t worry (:
Thank you.
You have to take the AB. Thus the question is obsolete. No one can answer. Nothing’s happening. The bacteria are more harmful.
Well, that’s what I just got today and swallowed the first tablet right in the pharmacy because it was right from the time.
