You can roughly crush the old parts and hull them in water. Later, by kneading on a gypsum board, you can dewater the mass so far that it gets “pot resistance”.

This is what all potters do with their committee, which has not yet been fired. In the course of re-moisting, the tone can also be further leaned, if necessary.
