Connect fan from power supply via motherboard?
Hello everyone.
I bought a new PC case. The Jonsbo U5S. It has two 120mm fans on top and the power supply at the front. Now the 120mm fans rotate according to the CPU temperature, and the power supply rotates according to its own temperature, and it does so quite slowly. The power supply is a Bequiet Pure Power 11. If the power supply fan could rotate a little faster, it would have a positive effect on the airflow in the case.
Since the NT fans cannot be accessed via software, the only option is direct intervention.
Is it possible to disconnect the power supply fan connector from the power supply and plug it into the SYS-FAN connector on the mainboard?
Can the NT handle this or will it complain?
I look forward to your feedback 😉
It wouldn’t. You would not be able to identify any effect on system performance.
Opening a power supply alone is already very dangerous. I would say that everything has been broken down to computer hardware a hundred times, but I have power supplies and I will always leave my fingers. This can become life-threatening. We’re talking about 240V. To finger around in a power supply is about as smart as to pee into a socket.
Also, you do not know whether the power supply fan uses a 4Pin PWM plug at all or whether it does not use a proprietary connection.
May work, but the NT fan should then read the temperature of the CPU sensors of the MB, and not that of the NT. He’ll probably be slower. A control to the maximum speed is thus not possible.
So it’s better to hang on the power supply and allow the actual airflow to be attracted to the desired position (back/lower fan).
Yes it is possible but leave it!
