In the UK you pay almost everywhere with map. Somewhere you can only pay with card. You don’t need cash anymore. The best way is to get a card with which you don’t have any conversion fees (e.g. those from Wise). If you prefer cash: with your normal card you can withdraw money in the UK. It’s best. But keep in mind that you are lifting a bank with an ATM and not with one of Euronet. At no rate, you should change money at any exchange, you’re losing a lot.

Many things, for example, go underground, go much easier with map.

Oystercard and Visitor Oystercard are the same or offer the same prices for the public. Only that you get discounts at the Visitor Oystercard in certain places if you show them (see here:https://visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk/en/media/72/download).

If your (bank/credit) card is contactless, you can also use your card! Except your bank/provider calculates high conversion fees for this, but most, especially neobanks, do not charge them anymore. Oystercard is when you have a contactless card, so it’s really unnecessary. Otherwise, if you prefer to use the Oyster you can buy it at any underground station. You need to buy the Visitor Oystercard online beforehand.
