Is it worth switching from Domane al 5 to Madone Sl 6?
Hello,
A few weeks ago I bought a Trek road bike with a 105 groupset and 2×12 gears for €2,300. During this time I've noticed that I've been riding almost every day, in groups (club) and also solo. I also plan to join a proper club and take part in competitions. I'm also very sure that I'll switch to an aero bike in 1-2 years. Since my bike is barely 4 weeks old, Trek offered to exchange it for me. I found a bike that I could take with me straight away. The groupset is from SRAM Rival eTap AXS and has an additional power meter. So the question is, is it worth switching? Because the 105 and Rival are basically just as good. I'd then have electronic gears, carbon rims and the bike is full carbon. Note: I don't want to buy a bike online because the Trek store is only 200 meters away from me.
Are there really that big a difference between Rival and Red? I'll link both bikes below. Thanks in advance.

What is the exchange offer in numbers?
Apart from that, you have a full bike with your Domane al 5.
A proposal for a Other I leave because the purchase on site has advantages.
The comparison to the Madone SL 6 AXS Gen 8, Given the extra price, does not bring many advantages. The weight is only 1.4 kg that you buy expensive. With the electronic circuit, you won’t get any more clarity than your colleagues.
This is my personal opinion.
My advice, go for a time (two/three years) to see if you stay with this beautiful sport.
With a good set of wheels you can make your bike much easier later.
The exchange offer looks like I’d get my entire money back to buy the Madone sl6. I always care that the others with the aero race bikes are much faster than I 🥶 thank you for the answer, your tip I take my heart.
Thanks for star ⭐
I wish you patience and success through a good decision.
I understand that well, but the “technically better equipped” are not automatically the faster.
This will give you the experience (Citat Hayns: My advice, go for a time…) show if it is. My experience says no.
The driver is decisive, see my report when I did not want to go out with the race wheel. This isn’t a “story” that’s what happened.
The most important component you are yourself.

My last sports medical performance diagnostics at the cardiologist (June 2024) shows that my performance (VO2 peak) is 65% above the age standard. This is my “doping” for the head.
Good luck.
