Is it still worthwhile to set up snack/drink/ice cream vending machines in Germany as a passive income or business?

Why were there even subsidies for this, why were snack/drink vending machines ever subsidized?

This is certainly not worthwhile if few exceptions as a location.

  • high acquisition costs
  • Maintenance costs
  • Filling and controlling the machine
  • Breakdown insurance
  • Vandalism insurance

You would have to ask twice as much as the customer pays in the store to get at your expense – so the customer gets in the store, because today the density of the shops is much higher and the opening hours of the shops are much longer than before when they did at 6:00, Saturdays already at 2:00.

There might be something else, but is that still attractive, touristy and no shops nearby?

Do you have any idea what a machine costs? And what you have for a logistical effort to fill whatever? (Not to mention hygiene rules)

Nowadays, you’d probably have to have 24 hours a day standing next to a guard.

should nothing happen, are insured

Shouldn’t anything happen? Oje… what are they insured and how expensive is that?

But here https://www.haake-versicherungen.de/gewerbekunde/transportversicherungen/automaten there is an indication of the cost of insurance.

Contribution rates:

Minimum contribution: 300,00 EUR

Contribution set indoor machines: 2% of new value including goods (snacks/drinks) and cash

Outdoors: 3% of new value including goods (snacks/drinks) and cash

outdoors: 6% of new value including goods (Vapes/Shsiha/E-Zig,) and cash

indoor slot machines: 2.5% of new value including cash

*all articles plus Insurance tax of 19%

These are annual contributions.

Vandalism is a subject and anyone who often has damage is no longer insured.
