Is it worth buying a Fairphone?
I don't own a smartphone yet, so I have no way of comparing. However, it's important to me that it's produced more sustainably and fairly. I'd also like to be able to pair it with my MacBook Air.

Good day, I use Word on my iPad , which makes this whole thing difficult. I'm currently doing some kind of presentation in Word and need to add an image to a page that already has text at the top. So I add the image and realize it's too large, so an extra page is…
Picture attached thanks in advance
I want to buy an Apple Watch that's good for running, exercising, etc. Not necessarily the newest model, but not one that's incredibly slow either. Do you have any suggestions?
Hey, On my current iPhone, which I'm using to write this, I'm connected to an Apple ID, but I'd like to change it. Does anyone know how I can keep my WhatsApp data so it's still on the new Apple ID? The device stays the same, only the Apple ID changes. Or is all WhatsApp…
I had a Fairphone 2 for 4 years as a service phone. I find the principle ingenious: as a user, I can change all parts easily and cost-effectively. Mainboard, cameras, micro, display and of course the battery. And you just need a screwdriver and a little fingertip feeling.
I find it very good that Fairphone is making its devices without child labour, bad wages and working conditions and using raw materials that are traded as fair as possible.
From the technical point of view, the devices are not high-tech, but can still be used wonderfully and for many years.
It is not possible to specify only. But with the velvetphone, it’s just something for losers.
Fairphone phones are pure mull. The hardware is extremely bad and additionally it costs a lot. I only hear negative things from the softwareaupper.
Fairphones are also not sustainable. This is just a justification for the bad hardware.
That’s bullshit. You don’t think it’s great. Doesn’t everyone have to find everything great.
No, it’s not bullshit, it’s actually correct. In competition you get significantly more for less money.
The advantages do not justify the bad hardware.
With “müll” I have probably exaggerated something (always this company is the only one on the market that has to offer) but, as I said, price/performance is technically very low.
They sell themselves very well for pure garbage and for years.
Just because something sells well doesn’t mean it’s good. That’s rather a weak argument.
How “not sustainable”?
Because mobile phones are generally not sustainable at all. Whether Fairphone, Xiaomi or Apple. JEDES mobile is far from “sustainable”.
Haha already clear, I am talking about fair working conditions (no child labour, reasonable wages….)
What about these phones, “fair”? The predominantly bad hardware and the high price certainly not.
Vlt is sustainable the wrong term, rather I meant “Fair” Produced
It’s okay. But not for the price.
No wireless charging(which is actually to be expected in the price class), is very thick and heavy, is relatively slow(though if you don’t play games), camera is not good, screen is not good…
In everything, there is much better for the money. There are already better for 200€ less.
But also more sustainable? What would you recommend?
Each smartphone is as sustainable as you want.
Also iphones, google pixel etc. can be repaired. Professionals exchange a broken display or accurate in less than 30 minutes. But most people just prefer to buy a new one. Why you should get a display for 100€+50€ labour costs(prices for spare parts are similar to fairphone and other smartphones) if you can also get a new smartphone for 400.
iPhone.
The fairphone is not particularly sustainable.
The only thing that makes it “sustainable” is that you can replace the battery, but that can also be done with any other smartphone where you can load one and let him out for 50€.
It’s just greenwashing.
And Apple also offers self-refurbished equipment, 509€ including new battery and outer shell is not bad.
Because if you want to buy a used one, you probably want to replace at least the battery.
Iphone is by default google-free. Because it’s ios. But then you have apple instead of google. Like pest and cholera.
If you want to have another smartphone, you probably need to de-googlen, root and new operating system without google services on it.
Because at android this is all based on the google play store etc.
Probably the iphone 12 or 12 mini then, they still get software updates until 2026, and also after that you can use them just ne becausee.
iPhone is best for Google free? Which would you recommend may also be smaller, more compact but still long usable
If you want google free then you’d best buy an iphone.
There are few android smartphones that are google free, and they are in the usually quite cumbersome.
Google free would also be very nice
That’s clear anyway, I don’t want anything new
And if you’re sustainable, you should buy garkein new smartphone, but a used or refurbished smartphone.
For example, Apple buys refurbished iphone 12 from 509€. Iphone 12 can still be used. This has a new outer shell and new battery.
for example pixel 7a. in a similar price category as the fairphone 5.
If you want to spend a little less, for example OnePlus Nord N30 5G.
And what, I’m not very demanding
