Rüste auf 4GB auf ,nutze Linux Mint Mate ,Installiere dir dies auf den Lappi. alles was du nicht brauchst ,schmeiß einfach raus. Oder Deinstallire es und ersetze es durch leichtere und schnellere Alternativen. Wenn Fertig Komplettes Backup machen . Geht mal was Schief kannst so immer wieder zurücksetzen oder nuzte Timeshift ,ist bei Linux Mint Mate auch dabei.

Linux Mint would also be an option, but I would avoid Fedora or Ubuntu.
Ich würde dir Fedora Server empfehlen, dann lightDM und i3wm nachinstallieren – das ist dann stabil, klein und funktional.
Eigentlich für jeden Computer eine ideale Kombi.
Wenn du ein fertiges Linux haben möchtest sind Bunsenlabs und Bodhi gute Möglichkeiten!
If you're a bit tech-savvy, I'd recommend either Arch or Fedora. I find Fedora more stable, especially if you don't urgently need the very latest versions of programs.
Personally, I'd recommend DWM or i3 as a display manager. If you want something user-friendly, then XFCE
Wie bewandert bist du mit Linux? Mein Goto wäre Arch. Ansonsten sollte Linux Mint mit xfce auch gut laufen.

Gentoo kannst du mit distcc auf nem besseren Rechner Kompellieren, ansonsten arch
