Linux Distro mit hohem Fractional Scaling?
Hallo liebe Community,
Fractional Scaling needs new software. With LTS distributions you can’t get far. I’d try KDE Plasma 6 or GNOME 47. For example, Solus or openSUSE Tumbleweed.
all right, thank you very much. :
what version of solus?
After installation, please install all updates.
You should also test Fedora with KDE or GNOME. My idea in which distributions and what DEs fractional scalinggut works. Don’t have the problem.
GNOME or plasma. Best to test both… These two desktop environments are most modern.
Hello Klossar086000,
Fractional Scaling is a new topic under Linux. The key to a functioning solution is the “Displayserver” Wayland. The old X11/X.org graphics system does not support fractional scaling and will probably not do so in the future. Unfortunately, the conversion of desktop environments to Wayland is still in full swing so that currently only a very limited selection is available for you.
GNOME and KDE Plasma are currently the only desktop environments that I believe support. Make sure you sign up for the Waylandsession and not the X11 session for GNOME or KDE selects plasma.
But you should be aware that there is currently no perfect solution for your situation. For feactional scaling to work completely, not only the desktop environments but also the Wayland apps used must be compatible.
Unfortunately, this is not yet the case. Many apps still use X11 as the only display server system. Although these apps are running under Wayland, they do not support features like Fractional Scaling.
Both KDE Plasma and GNOME offer you setting options such as X11 applications to scale, but you should not expect a perfect result.
