A week is a lot of time, so I would recommend Hamburg, because the city is more varied and offers more.

First of all there are some sights, such as:

  • the important technical monument Alter Elbtunnel
  • St. Petri: oldest church in the city
  • St. Michaelis: a landmark of the city
  • Town Hall with the historic neighboring buildings
  • Miniature Wonderland
  • Elbphilharmonie, there possible concert visit
  • Reeperbahn by night with guided tour is at least original and is accepted by tourists
  • Planten un Bloomen is a beautiful park
  • Exterior and inland nests if you like nature

There is also a lot to do in the area. The North and Baltic Sea are not far. The old Hanseatic city of LΓΌneburg is also practically in front of the gates of Hamburg and offers a very well preserved old town in the style of brick Gothic.

Of course there is also a live music scene in Hamburg. You’d have to explore what band plays when.

Hi, Daredeville94.

Both cities have their charms but I would personally choose Hamburg.

Reeperbahn, St Pauli, and above all the Hamburger Hafen, this is simply a mandatory program.

Also the Davidswache is not interesting from the optics but interesting is that it lies not far from the entrance of Herbertstraße…….

Greetings, Renate.

Hamburg. A very interesting town, just because of the harbor. The environment is also very attractive. But my answer is very subjective, in Leipzig I have never been.

You wrote a nice answer, and if you have time, you’ll visit Leipzig. Greetings, Renate.

Leipzig has muffled himself out of the gray dress and has nothing to do with Hamburg.

The international battle monument, the Thomaskirche and of course the Leipzig Zoo are beautiful sights.

The old houses are well renovated and an eyewitness.

Clearly Hamburg – you cannot seriously compare the two cities.

Also, Hamburg is a whole house number bigger, has a lot more history and has international recognition as a city worth seeing. There are more tourism and also significantly more luxury due to the high level of income.

I can only recommend coming to Leipzig and taking time to explore the city. Then you can quickly find out why Leipzig also has its own charm, which Hamburg does not have. Each city has its own character :
