Leaving stain remover on for too long?

Yesterday, I suddenly had a lot of small bruises on my relatively new sweater. I then applied Vanish Oxi Action. I actually only wanted to let it work for a short time, but then I forgot. Now there are light stains on the sweater. Is there any way to get them out?
