Is leasing a car affordable?
Hello everyone
I've long dreamed of owning my own Mercedes Marco Polo. I currently live alone, am in my mid-20s, and am a civil servant.
The car costs around 40,000 euros.
I'd like to take out a lease with subsequent purchase. The payment is approximately 15% of my net income.
In addition, I have saved about 40,000 euros, which are firmly invested in the stock market.
What do you think, would you get the vehicle given my current situation or should I continue saving?
40.000€ saved with middle 20 is a house number. I think you can afford something. However, I would think about paying part of the 40,000 to keep the credit rates/leaning costs lower.
Nope, it’s not worth it. In my opinion, leasing is not sensible for individuals. Not at all with such overpriced cars, which do not last longer than cheaper vehicles.
I would never borrow for consumer goods. No longer now, where the interest has risen so much. And 15% of my income, I wouldn’t spend on A AUTO. Now get the rent, then you’re almost half your salary.
And then maybe there’s something else you didn’t expect. Imagine driving the new car to scrap after a short time. Note that the new car already loses a lot of value after a very short time. You have to pay the difference, because the insurance does not pay anything 🙂
By the way, you already need the 40,000 for old age care. The supply gap makes greetings!
You also have to expect to return the car after 3 years of leasing. And after that you have no more money for the deposit if you want to lease a new car.
If you have already saved 40000 in the middle of 20, then save the next 40000 by the beginning of 30. Then you can afford the car.
