Learning tips (motivation, methods, desk)?
Hello! I've decided to prepare thoroughly for exams for the rest of the semester, as I have a very stressful life at the moment. My question is how can I really motivate myself to study, and what are the most effective study methods you know? What are the absolute must-haves for a study desk for organization, etc.? I look forward to your answers!
Best regards
Hello,
this question cannot be answered on a flat-rate basis. The answer is always dependent on what to learn.
Learning out e.g. is a little effective learning method, but it only brings short-term success, because what you learn by heart (Vokabeln, Texts) has been forgotten very quickly, because from Learning out nothing solidifies in the brain.
It is important to understand and apply the learning material (texts, grammar, vocabulary, formulas, natural laws, theories, etc.) in practice. Only then is the learned person also stuck in the cerebral cavity and can be transferred to other tasks, etc. This is achieved by applying gel harvests in practice and e.g. by suitable books and literature.
If you learn a (length) text by heart, you know – if you have not forgotten it until English work – what comes into a certain gap.
But if you are the grammar or the use of a specific phrase or preposition has not been understood, it will not be possible to repeat the performance in a foreign text or in your own text creation.
If you learn input, presentation and lecture texts by yourself, you will usually get too fast during the lecture. This is why the texts should be formulated, but later they should be freely presented using keyword cards.
In the case of clearly memorized reproduction or when reading a pre-formulated text (e.g. at Eurocom), testers interrupt. Instead, questions are asked on the subject, in which the examiner then is difficult to answer.
In the worst case, if the teacher or the teacher knows or discovers the original source (on the Internet, etc.), this is designed as a fraud attempt and you get a bad note.
Apart from the fact that the next time you may not have found a suitable sample solution and you cannot solve the tasks you have done, because you have not learned / practiced it, but have always only written off.
It is more sensible to listen carefully to a unit, to make a few notes, or important facts, which is particularly interested or what you have not understood in the handout, in order to ask and/or work at the end of the unit again, to read, deepen and apply. This also strengthens knowledge.

It is also possible to learn and if one takes as many of the following points as possible,
– reading books on the current teaching material
– reading sophisticated literature and newspapers, English and foreign language books and literature
– the view of demanding television and news shows, reports and (documentary) films – also foreign language
– Learning and Knowledge Games
– solve quiz and puzzle tasks, crossword puzzles, sodokus, mental sports tasks, etc.
– Theatre and opera visits
– Visits of readings
– Museum visits
– Excursions
– Learning, knowledge and concentration games, e.g.:
City, Country, River, Tea Bowls, Taboo: (a given term should be explained, 4 or 5 words may not be used), Which word does not fit in the row or group?, Memory, Bingo, Scrabble, Crossword puzzle, Galgenmännnchen, Anagramme, What does not fit in the row?, Trivial Pursuit, Ratefix uvm.
– Learning, education and language travel
– Learning by doing! and not by passive sprinkling.
is fun and you do not need to be afraid of unannounced tests and work and not to buffalo for hours.
Learn regularly in small portions – Quality instead of quantity – brings more than before the class work to the night for hours. At the latest after 1 hour, the cerebral cavity is dense. The next morning you go to school and to class work.
Many of these things do in the community more fun as alone, so get your friends, classmates into the boat and
– makes homework together and learns together
– forms learning groups in which you help and support each other; sometimes also ‘interdisciplinary’, so that e.g. ‘Mathe-Asse’, ‘English-Assen’ in math help the jumps and vice versa.
I recommend the following free training pages on the Internet:
– https://www.schlaukopf.de/ (Here you can enter school form and class and ask for the current school material; and not only for English. Good for preparation for class work.)
– (similar to the aforementioned page)
Learning videos you will find:

After daily learning, you can go swimming with an ice cream, a good book or film, or whatever you like. This is also motivated.
If this works with learning, your parents may also be able to talk about a special holiday or a language journey (ferienfreizeit, host family, student exchange), a small extra gift, fulfilling a very special desire, etc.
Have fun and success in learning!

Wow, thanks for the answer!
You’re welcome. ☺️
In addition to this excellent listing:
Make the job accordingly!
So piccobello clean and clean, that also applies to the PC, so it is used! Remove unnecessary desktop icons, Regularly used programs prefer to have in the taskbar instead of linking to the desktop. Reference units/books are ideally stored as PDFs, which can be opened in the background.
In principle, do not allow distractions, so mobile phones and if music has to run in the background, then quiet instrumental music. I like to run classics or so-called. Coffee house music (Spotify)… also here instrumental without singing.
Step by step in learning. So not everything at once, but one step after another. If you have a theme, then you can take a short break. Get up, some move, look out the window with some fresh air, cup of coffee/tea….and go back to work and the next topic after 10 minutes at the latest.
If you think: Okay, just repeat the Schagmichdochtot formula in math until it sits… then mentally it’s not as much as: OMG, I still have to learn as much for the exams. The topics as a list, which visually shows the progress of learning and this success motivates in persevering.
Something self-discipline….the TV series “Tatort” I’m not looking until I have topics 1-3 in physics… then one works gradually, but constantly through the whole fabric. And then you are prepared…the day before the exam you should be through, then you can fly over again quickly read… and then it should go!
Oh, yes, you start with such a learning marathon and not on the last pusher.
Previewing the success achieved with learning.
