LCD screen broken?

Hello, I have a problem with my Nintendo DS. When the bottom screen, the touchscreen, is turned on, it has a white border about 0.5 cm wide all the way around. When the DS is turned off, this border isn't visible.

I hadn't noticed it before, since I mostly play GBA games on it. But recently, I put in a DS game, and then I noticed it. The screen reacts everywhere, even where it's white.

Does anyone know what can be done about it and what it is?
