Play the trumpet louder?

Hey, I always have the problem that I play too quietly, which is rather unusual for trumpeters, but oh well.

Can anyone give me some tips?

I also take trumpet lessons and my teacher always tells me to play with more air and open my throat and it gets better, but somehow only very slowly.

Thank you

Your teacher already has the right tips. And much on the instrument just takes a long time before you can.

I can recommend breathing exercises. (All without instrument)

  • Consciously deep in and out breathe. If you think you’re at the Max or Min is still a little bit.
  • Exhale whole lung volume as quickly as possible
  • Take the mouthpiece wrongly (with the tube) between the lips, exhale and briefly touch the tongue directly on the tube.
  • Stretching exercises to widen the chest.

Bringing more air into the instrument and making neck wide is the right advice.

I also tend to narrow tones and, for “therapeutic” reasons, occasionally practice on a basstrompet. Only in the case of plenty of air and wide, useful sounds come out.
