Keeping runner ducks (pond)?
Hello,
We are thinking about getting some ducks and I wanted to ask if anyone knows how big a pond would need to be for each duck.
And I've read that goldfish keep the pond somewhat clean, but some say certain breeds of ducks eat them. What about runner ducks?
In general, duck ponds are planned so that you can quickly drain the complete water and replace it with new water. The water in a duck pond is very quickly dirty.
If it’s not a fucking big pond, you don’t get it into an ecological balance. But that would be the precondition for holding goldfish. Of course, the fish would not keep the pond clean. You need a pond filter system for this.
For a natural pond, you should probably plan at least 4 sqm of surface per duck. Enten also likes to eat water plants. Meaning of the plants must be so much present that it can grow faster than that the ducks can eat it. Otherwise, the plants are gone.
My small 1 square meter pond has transformed 4 semi-strong ducks within 20 minutes into a mud cap with broken parts of plants. I’m afraid you came through my fence. The pond had to be repositioned.
Then I know. Thank you for your answer:)
For beginners in the entertainment, a children’s sand mussel with water is recommended for the beginning. You can also build a pond in the ground later.
Hello
Pond size per duck use healthy common sense – so 1 2 3 square meters maybe, with many ducks less. That would be good. I’m sure that little one will go some way. Water exchange also plays a role.
Goldfish must survive the pond before they keep it clean. In a large pond you can taste it. Greater goldfishes don’t get ducks down.
Okay, thanks for your answer 🙂
Runners don’t know a toilet. They leave their legacy everywhere.
