Laptop jack connection not recognized?

My PC has the problem that my headset no longer works via jack or it is not recognized at all.

My PC has the problem that my headset no longer works via jack or is not even recognized.

And yes, I have a port that's compatible with the headset, since it worked before. What's even more confusing is that the sound is coming through, but I can't decide whether it's coming from the headphones or the internal speakers. The microphone on the headphones doesn't work at all. However, the headphones work on other devices, just like the cable between them.

You could say that my laptop doesn't know whether a port is plugged in or not and is just transmitting sound.

I suspect it's a software issue or a problem with the jack connection itself.

I cannot fully interpret the problem myself, but if you have any questions, I am happy to provide more input

I’m confused. You write “…but I can’t decide if it is output via the headphones or internal speakers.” What’s happening with a plug-in headset? Is he going to change the edition history without a choice?
