Weld a new crankshaft stub from the scooter around?
Hello, the beginning of the crankshaft on my scooter is blunt, so that the drive pinion can no longer engage the pulley and spins.
Now I was thinking about cutting off the round piece of the crankshaft and welding a new piece onto it, would that be possible?
If you want a really good-meaning advice, don’t try.
We don’t want to discuss what effort this would mean, because it’s not done with “welding a new piece”.
This then has to be “normally annealed” to reduce tensions.
Then the mechanical processing follows and if I calculate the costs for this, you will get four to five new crankshafts for the money….
Which is why this should do….
a professional welder can do something like that.
Right and welding isn’t even the problem yet….
In addition to the welding seam, one has a kind of “desired breaking point” and, in order to prevent this, one has to glow the part normally.
Then follows the mechanical processing, because after welding, the concentricity is far below all criticism, but you know that yourself because you know very well.
If you let the FS, he would spend so much money for the action that he could also buy a few new crankshafts….
That’s right.
Further:
During normal annealing, the crankshaft bearings (fat and sealing surfaces) announce your friendship.
So you have to expand the crankshaft. But you can also install a new crankshaft and save stress with welding, alignment, turning, normal annealing, hardening.
Finally, this not only costs the price of several crankshafts, but is as expensive as a brand scooter, where such a problem does not occur at all.
Thank you.
Of course, your training is much better than my “learning at doing”.
Sometimes I wish I had such a training. But I ask for trouble here and hope for you.
At least I know what I can do. With this hope, I also go to the technical questions.
Some then ask back to understand. That’s my love. Others wave off and want to solve it somehow by themselves and I already see the failure and appropriate future questions.
But I’ve had a successful experience. For example, when I was able to help a technically unforged questioner so that she could independently replace the glass in an old wooden window frame. It’s like oil. She can pass on her experience.
Oh, dear, I’ve arrived at the Smalltalk. I’m sitting here and I’m just taking responsibility, but I’m not doing anything.
Right.
You know very well how I read in your posts….
However, if there is a question here, I will answer them even if I consider the idea of a solution to be “brain-cracked”.
Neither you nor I would come up with the idea of building a KW, having a complicated repair….if you can get a brand new crankshaft for significantly less money….but we don’t have the idea….
Such a three-and-a-half-year training as a mechatronic is overvalued just like a mechanical engineering study and zig years of experience in many pit lanes in this world as a screwdriver….this doesn’t matter if you read what fifteen years here announce as a specialist competence….
