It’s called wound closure. Because as you can see, the Yucca was cut on the trunk. This wax is put on. With time, growth, the wound closure will repel itself.

Without wound closure, the plant would bleed out and do not develop side shoots.

The wound clasp should stay on it!

When I cut my Yuccas, I also form cheese wax caps to protect the interfaces of the mother plant from drying out. Cheese wax can be modeled at room temperature and used again and again.

I also had this, had the Yuccapalme since my childhood, a small branch is still sealed in shape, otherwise it has grown very well and has also branched. We’ve never done anything.

When you do it, water will penetrate into the stump and rot with time. That’s all his sense.

After a cut of the stem, the cut surface is sealed so that no bacteria can enter the freshly cut site and less plant juice emerges. This is usually a wax.

This is because the interface does not fault or dry. the Yucca is capped and sealed, then side shoots grow. If you didn’t do that, the trunk would dry out and possibly mold.

It obviously protects the cut trunk from rot and fungal attack. You can turn them off and see what happens.

Please let it go until it gets knocked off!
