Hand in notice so close to the deadline?

Hey people,

I'm studying civil engineering and work part-time at a large construction company. I've been working at this company for about six months, and I'm not happy. Of course, I need the money, for my shared apartment, etc., and I'm not above working. However, the thought of quitting makes me happier than continuing to work there. Since I have a four-week notice period and, according to my contract, I can quit either mid-month or at the end of the month, I wanted to quit effective August 15th. Since I have to send in my notice this week or in the next few days, I wanted to ask for your opinion.

I haven't told my boss anything, neither that I'm unhappy nor that I want to quit. Do you think it's okay to tell him this at such short notice? I feel bad :/ but I feel like I'm only getting unhappier the longer I work there, and this isn't my first job. I can also draw a comparison to the jobs I've had before and can honestly say that this isn't just a phase; it's really due to my colleagues/job.

I did it anyway. I am the boss with the termination and have explained this to him so that my work is no longer fun and accordingly I can no longer bring the performance he expects.

In addition, I would like to reorientate myself and take a different path that I cannot take in this company.

So I don’t think that’s really bad. But as I said, I would take the way to communication beforehand. Calls to announce and write. That the chef just knows this a day before and might explain himself.

Then everything’s good. I would not roll it on my colleagues or even refer it to them, but simply go over your own rail. That you simply don’t see any potential for ascent for yourself and that you can see yourself in a completely different activity. In addition, you can refer to your studies that without this side job, you might run better… That he can only agree with you at the end.

That’s what I did at least. But I changed directly and already had a new employer.

That went so fast. Between application and employment contract were exactly 4 days… And even that’s what the boss understood.

– You think you’re gonna tell him this short term?

Time limit = time limit.

If it is observed, it is not to be criticized. However, oral termination is not sufficient; it must be written.

Certainly, it would be useful for the employer to get into a follow-up plan at an early stage.

However, early information on termination intentions may negatively affect the working climate.
