Friend wants to swap VW Golf for Benz W220?
I have a 1999 Benz S500 W220 with 280,000 km on the clock in good condition, with a bit of rust, and a broken windshield. I actually wanted to convert it into a Maybach with a bit of tuning. It has a MOT until September.
My friend has a VW Golf, built in early 2009, with 80 hp and a subwoofer with an amplifier. It's now on 190,000 km, and he thinks it's sporty and better for tuning and performance enhancements. He's interested in the S-Class.
He's now suggested a one-for-one car swap. Is that a fair swap? S Class for VW?

By the way…. If you implement your project with the S-Class and, apart from the painting and the roof sky, you have to take care of the plastic clips and the electrics very carefully. The latter likes to be zigig and once stupid the cables are held somewhere against, on, and or different ones, can lead to a control unit being adopted. For the cladding parts you can take a very good plastic spatula. This makes it possible to lever the panel parts well out.
And what I just remember is extra colour for the sky. You don’t have to take the whole thing down there. That would also be a bit tricky if your S-bolzen has a sliding roof.

The C 220 CDI MOPF is a super model, hardly noticeable. It has more performance than an E 200 CDI. The E-Class may be better than the C-Class, but where more technology is installed can break more.
I myself thought to replace my Passat 1.9 TDI with a W212 MOPF 300 CDI. However, I think the W204 is a better choice. Former colleagues from the Mercedes-Benz contract workshop can highly recommend the C220 CDI W204 MOPF.
