Is a KTM Duke 390 inspection useful?
Hi, I have a 2021 KTM Duke 390 and am just about to hit 22,500km. I've done all the maintenance so far and am wondering what needs to be done next, or rather, whether it makes sense to spend almost €600 at KTM for it instead of doing most of it myself or having it done by an independent workshop.
The new wages and part costs at KTM are realistic at just under €600, says an employee at KTM Cologne.
What is done during the inspection and what intervals should I observe?
Thanks in advance!
These costs seem quite high. When I checked 15000s with valve play, I was 360 euros 3 months ago. And that was the most expensive so far. If your amount is still chain set or tyres, okay, you would have to take off the pure inspection.
During each maintenance I get the maintenance plan handed out. There are all the upcoming inspections at the bottom. Alternatively, the planned work is also listed in the manual. Like the 7500er, the 22500er is a quite normal without valve play. Otherwise just let the plan mail!
Thank you for your answer. Krass… I paid 470€ at the 7,500km inspection at KTM Bonn. Where are you taking your machine?
Hi.
it always depends on what you are.
The inspection work is not a secret and can be asked.
If you plan to sell the machine as a “check booklet” at some point, you should do that.
My personal opinion: My vehicles stay 4-5 years in the contract workshops, after which I do most myself and if I have no idea or pleasure the vehicle goes into a workshop.
Inspections usually consist of looking, new oil with filter, brake fluid, cooling fluid, but as I said, maintenance information gives KTM out when you ask for it. Honda, Kawasaki and BMW also 🙂
Depends on what needs to be done and whether there is a guarantee. I’d have valves stopped by the dealer.
I wouldn’t leave an appointment.
There is actually a service book or workshop book for each motorcycle, where all intervals are recorded. Often online.
What is retained by inspections at the Fachwerkstatt does not actually count on what you can save.
Long-term inspections like oil and filter change can always be done. There are also free mechanics for everything you don’t care about.
