Mom calling in sick – do you think that’s normal?
Sure, we all know that from school and it's completely normal there, but I have a 58-year-old friend whose 38-year-old daughter texts her on WhatsApp when she's sick or at least wants to take a sick day so that her mother can then call the boss because her daughter is scared of him and can't get along with him.
Do you think this is normal? I don't, and I'd like to know if I'm the only one who thinks this way, because they think it's totally normal.

No, that’s not okay, and I as a boss wouldn’t really accept that either. Then I’d be pretty sure to call this daughter himself to ask me what’s going on.
Unless the daughter is in the coma, it can’t direct the business itself that she’s out for a while. But everything else does not come into question.
I as a boss would not accept such a call from Mutti and insist on personal information from the “crawling” daughter.

I don’t think that’s normal either. The daughter is already nearly 40 and is still excused by Mutti? Absolute no-go! She shouldn’t be so comfortable and settle her own affairs – what does she want to do if Mutti isn’t there (more) for her?
I think so. But if I say something, I am evil. 🙄
It’s usually like… You have to let those people go to the bathroom before they get it…
As a mother, I would advise the daughter to look for a therapist.

I don’t think it’s normal. At doctor’s appointments, etc., my mother sometimes called for me when I was early 20 and was at school or at work. But I have always spoken to my superiors or teachers. And I still do. Become 30.
This is definitely NOT normal… at the age you should get it on your own….
That sounds more like she should think about a job change.
I think so. But she is a person of the variety that always thinks to be right and to be treated unfairly. It’ll only be another search if it’s canceled. That’s so bad. She thinks she’s inconvenient because she’s got a fixed contract, and she’s going through it. Explanations, however, arise on deaf ears because at least she is right there. 🙄

This would not go to work at all, unless the employee cannot speak because he is unconscious in the hospital or the like.
I wouldn’t accept that as a boss. She should report to me JEDES time personally. That’s not normal – no.
I don’t think I’m normal and I’d be worth a reminder when I get back. If something like “in the hospital” okay. But otherwise she got sick to report
