Are contact lenses in blister packs durable at high temperatures in summer?
Now in summer, we occasionally have temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius. Vehicles and hotel rooms, in particular, can get quite hot. And you sometimes walk for long periods with your bags in the sun without shade.
What about contact lenses that are still sealed in the blister pack? Does the constant heat affect them? Regarding germs that can form, etc. My chocolate got really soft in my attic hotel room. Does anyone know if the contact lenses are still safe to use?
Hello,
Contact lenses wear our summer heat without problems. As a rule, depending on the manufacturer’s specifications, they should be kept at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. This is not always so easy in the summer, but even if contact lenses are kept for a few days at too high temperatures, it does not actually harm the lenses. Especially if they are still unopened and lie on a shaded cookie.
In the car please do not put on the cockpit, not in the glove compartment and not on the seat – at these places everything heats up very much.
In the handbag you can take it safely, but try not to put the bag out for hours of the sun.
A heated hotel room does not make the CL anything as long as they are not exposed to the bright sun.
Germs do not form in an undamaged, closed blister.
Thank you, even if the text is copied 😉
What happens when my contact lenses lie around in the blister for several hours at 35 degrees?
From my decades of professional experience, I can tell you that the Kontak lens fluid – in the case of hours of storage in the sun – is affected. The CL does not melt, but you should pay attention to the fact that you don’t leave it in the sun for hours.
I told you the lentils don’t hurt heat. Also not if they are in the blisters or in the cleaning container with disinfection solution. You should not expose blisters and CL containers for hours to the harsh sunlight, because it has an adverse effect on the liquid.
Further tip: ask your contact lens adaptor.
I’m kidding. Thank you!
Probably they won’t know anything exactly. They always warn only to exclude legal consequences. I don’t know…
PS: It is not about care products or a bottle of contact lens fluid. It is about the blisters or the lenses which are located in the blisters.
The idea comes to me: please ask your care product manufacturer. You may find a customer hotline on the bottle, but guaranteed on the net.
How is it affected?
If possible, store the lenses in the shadow or in a pocket or in the cabinet and so cool under these circumstances. Normally they wear heat without problems when they are not just lying in the bright sun for a long time.
What happens to the contact lenses in the closed blisters if you expose them too long to high temperatures and sun?
