Contact lenses?

I wear glasses but want to wear contact lenses and have to pay €50 for an appointment at Fielmann because apparently the prescription changes with contact lenses. But my prescription is -1.7, and I've heard it only changes at around -3.5.

Can't I buy contact lenses like this?

I have -1,7…

Hello Hjiuop,

There’s no such vision. There are them in 0.25 steps, i.e. 1.5 or 1.75; but not 1.7.

can’t I buy contact lenses like this?

No. Your eyes must be remeasured by the optician. Not only the visual strength, but also your corneal radius, the curvature of your corneal, the diameter (important for the size of the lenses), your tear film composition.

Which lenses you get, whether soft or dimensionally stable, whether day lenses, weekly, monthly or annual lenses, the optician decides how often and long you want to wear the lenses and what activities.

The optician also decides which lens type fits your tear film composition, he accordingly selects the appropriate care agent for the disinfection and cleaning of the lenses.

Once you get test lenses, you’ll be using the optician’s guide to put in and out. After about 2-4 weeks, you have the 2nd appointment to check if your visual organs are tolerating the lenses as you have been able to with them.

Sometimes it also requires another lens type if not everything fits.

The charge of 50,-€ is therefore more than justified.

Finally, the so important half- and annual post-checks of your eye health at the optician are free. Even with any problems with the lenses and your eyes, your optician is there for you, takes time and treats you for free.

Of course you can buy “just like” contact lenses, no one will stop you. This is what happens to people who are not worth the eyes, who degrade these organs into experimental rabbits and then whistle, because there are inflammations or ulcers in their eyes.
If you don’t want to belong to these people, go to the optician and let the lenses adapt to your eyes. Seriously, your eyes will not grow.
Rdsince has described it for you very carefully and there everything is perfectly correct.
Now you can decide which way you want to go and whether your eyes might not be worth €50 instead of blindness.

Theoretically, you can buy contact lenses. You shouldn’t do that without a sample at the optician. It is not only about the diopters, which can easily differ between glasses and contact lenses, but also about the optimal fit. Each contact lens, i.e. from each manufacturer and the brand, has a different geometry. If dimeters, diopters and base curve are identical to contact lens A and B, this does not mean that brand A and mark B have the same geometry, i.e. fit! The materials are also often different, which influences the carrying properties. I’ve been wearing monthly lenses for about 25 years and I know what I’m talking about.

No way! The lenses have to be adapted to your eyes, as it is not only the strength. If you just buy contact lenses, you can hurt your eyes, so please go to the optician.
