Can chicks mature precociously?
Hello,
I currently have five chicks that are just over two weeks old. One is clearly a rooster; he has typical short feathers, typical rooster behavior at that age, and is already developing a comb. It's like something out of a picture book. Chickens mature at different speeds, depending on the breed. By comb, I mean. With some you can tell at 3 weeks and with others at 6 weeks. I have four chicks that grew their feathers pretty quickly and also have typical hen behavior, very skittish and reserved. Now one of them has developed a comb, where the comb is already larger, but otherwise his behavior and feathers are completely typical of a hen.
Now my question is whether chickens can also mature early. I also have a hen who has a pretty strong fight, almost like a rooster, but she's a hen after all.
I'm always happy to receive answers.
Ok, vielen Dank 😊
Hoffe konnte helfen
Ja, konntest du. 😊
