Yeah, you can. There are clear indications on the payment machines that no coins may be thrown in. It is now with the bank that operates the vending machine whether or not it takes you for the repair costs (technical use, if necessary spare parts).

The first contact of the bank can be made by phone or in writing. But it would be better if you came to the bank. I can’t estimate possible costs. This depends on many factors: has damage occurred on the device? Who cares for the machine (bank, value service provider)? Is a technician needed? Do parts have to be exchanged? However, costs in the four-digit range are possible. If there is no conflict between you and the bank, a message will not be displayed.
