Kfz umeldung bei verstorbenem halter und verschollenem brief?

Ich habe mir in letzter zeit viel durchgelesen und komme trotzdem nicht weiter.
Meine frage
Mein opa hat 1988 einen mercedes gekauft (1.hand) und ist 2020 verstorben. Der fahrzeug schein ist noch da, aber der brief nicht.
Im Schein steht noch der name von meinem Opa da meine Oma das Fahrzeug nie gefahren ist. Bzw. Nie auf sich umgemeldet hat.
Ist es möglich, dass ich als 2. Hand das Fahrzeug zulassen kann, oder muss das über meine oma gemacht werden, da Sie alleinige erbin ist?
