Car broken?

Good morning,

My neighbor has problems with his car.

It won't start anymore and suddenly turned off when I started driving.

Now the problem is he has a small pension and the garage that towed him said there was nothing there and just ripped him off for a lot of money

The question is, is there anyone in our area who has a reader or can take a look at it?

Would be great hobby car mechanic or professional car mechanic who can possibly tell what the problem is without asking for hundreds of euros

Maybe you can fix it yourself, depending on what the problem is.

Just asking for help for my neighbor.

Take a teaspoon out of the sprite, grab it on the hard floor and grow it. If there’s oil left, he probably did diesel.

I’d go to another workshop.

Maybe put your question on an experienced car screwdriver. A wide range offers you (Fabucar). I’m sure someone can help you.

PS: Diagnosis can also be read with an OBD Bluetooth device. For 20€ at Amazon. Got it.

Does the old man have insurance at an automobile club?

When starting it smells strong like gasoline has made the oil lid there came a little agony out not much and it also smelled strong there for gasoline.

TÜV or Maintenance note not available

If it smells like gasoline in the oil lid, the damage can go deeper into the money. A classic would be the cylinder head seal. To clarify the suspicion, please search for oil traces in the cooling water (level?). Incidentally control the spark plugs in succession as they look (oily, sooty, wet, …).

But these are only tips from KFZ-Laien.

With “(Pegel?)” I wanted to draw attention to the fact that the levels must also be integrated into the “protocol” of observations. If more oil has been consumed for a long time than usual, then it could be returned to my guess if there is no oil cap on the parking lot.

Digga can’t help you if you don’t list what was done on maintenance. Or how much KM he has.

That’s nothing, it can’t be that the people of the workshop who picked up the car would have found it right on site. As he apparently hasn’t jumped, he was dragged off, something has to be in the agar, and be it just the battery or the starter.
Starting and starting up is not typical of these two things. What can be more, and that could actually be costly, is a skipped control chain/thong. Precisely cold-starting processes are especially happy to trigger when both are older and the vehicle may not have been regularly serviced.

Without further information on the vehicle, age, motorization, mileage, however, everything else is only speculation. However, this is also true, because remote diagnostics are not actually possible.
Not everything can be read and done with a diagnostic device.
