Pause your KfW student loan to change university and study program in the winter semester?

Good morning,

Unfortunately, I realized this semester that this course isn't for me. I would have been in my fourth semester starting in the summer semester (yes, I know I noticed very early on that I'm studying the wrong subject). I read that you can only pause your student loan if you register for a semester off. Would it theoretically be possible to register for a semester off and then deregister at the end of the summer semester, potentially allowing you to enroll at another university starting in October? I hope that was somewhat understandable. In fact, it would be a completely different subject area.

And what about the interest during the semester break? Will it continue to accrue, or will I not have to pay interest on the amounts already paid out?

Thank you.

Kind regards
