Daytime running lights are voltage controlled. They switch when the on-board voltage is above 14 volts, for example. This is always the case when the engine starts and the lighting machine runs.

When it is turned off, they remain locked for a moment because it takes a moment until the voltage has fallen below the control value. This is not a “Comming Home” function, but simply by switching these lamps.
