It's about a children's radio play that my boyfriend listened to around 2006-2008. It doesn't have to be from that era, though. He remembers a school where the children learned about cloud science. There were lantern monsters, underground passages with a monster/creature that could imitate other things, and apparently, there was a fire at the end.
