There are still checks, tickets are of course needed without control.

The DB has incorrectly formulated its statements on the subject, the press releases and the service instructions for the employees do not agree. The following shall apply:

  • Until further notice, the ticket control is only contactless in all trains and buses, the tickets or mobile phones are not touched to check the validity.
  • In the long-distance traffic, the train passengers continue to monitor all tickets
  • In local transport, employees are free to check whether they control tickets or not, normally they are obliged to do so.

There are still random checks.

Without ticket, it is, still, a crime.

If my knowledge of the information is still up to date, then for a long time there have been no control personnel in the trains. This serves to avoid unnecessary contact with others

In fact, there are still controls, only now the employees decide whether they control or not

In many trains, only sample-like checks have been carried out. You need a ticket anyway, and who has no pays at least 60 euros.

Somebody told me. Experience comes from regional transport only. Whether in the fast ICE trains this is also the case I don’t know. I don’t think so.
